Belated Naples post

So here are my Naples pictures. Better late than never AMIRITE? (I decided I would actually post them where they would fit in chronological order, rather than a month late like they actually are.)

One thing that caught my attention immediately in Naples- and really, about Italy in general- is how much people let their dogs go around without leashes. It always makes me think of India- but these are definitely not street dogs like Pure Veg.

The main piazza in Naples (whose name I cannot recall). You can't really see it in this picture, but there was a wedding happening on the steps of that basilica across the way.

Some balloons from the aforementioned wedding.
I liked these statues. Forgive the profanity on the graffiti- you can't really get away from it!
Then there was this street performer:

A rather bizarre figure to see in Naples. He was cool, though.

Then there was a castle.

That's right- a gorram castle.
Here's a door that had a freakin' CANNONBALL shot through it.

And now we reach the portion of the program that earns the title LEGEND-I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the next word it-DARY.

That's right, dear hypothetical readers: The best pizza place in the world. You heard me.

This is the pizza place that all other pizza places try to emulate. This isn't like most of the pizza you find in the U.S. or in Rome, for that matter. (The closest I've seen to it in America is the legendary 2Amy's by the National Cathedral. Also, I found some similarly awesome pizza in Florence. And now I am literally drooling.)

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the aforementioned amazing pizza. But rest assured, hypothetical readers, it was in fact amazing.

Okay, that's it for now!

Ciao!

Hello!

My name is Lili Ward. I'm a junior at American University in Washington DC, studying International Studies (and hopefully Public Health). This blog is going to cover all of  my adventures during my study abroad at The American University of Rome for the Spring of 2011. I leave on Sunday, and will arrive in Rome Monday.

For some reason it's hard to wrap my mind around than India was. I think I spent so much time getting ready for India that I was forced to think about it all the time. But getting ready for Italy is so much easier than India was, so it hasn't required as much thought.

Anyway, I'll be checking in next from the other side of the world!

P.S. For my adventures in India, check out my previous blog.
